Here at Chester Racecourse, we’re already thinking about Half-Term! MBNA Roman Day is the first of our family themed fixtures this year and offers families the perfect opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the Half-Term holidays on Saturday 26 May. On MBNA Roman Day, we’ll be celebrating our historical roots and location within the Roman city of Chester. Did you know, Chester Racecourse, established in 1539, is the oldest racecourse still in use in the UK!
Expect plenty of entertainment on the Open Course in addition to the seven races during the afternoon, including chariot and jousting displays. Roman foot soldiers will be on hand to pose for photos and teach youngsters some fascinating facts about their Cestrian ancestors.
Younger racegoers will be invited to
• Craft their very own Roman shields
• Get their faces painted
• Try a hand at archery
• Choose a steed with pony rides
So, pack a roman themed picnic, get the family together and join us at Chester Racecourse for a day to remember. Carpe Diem!
Children aged 17 and under are eligible to attend this and every single raceday free of charge with a full paying adult and tickets for adults start at just £10 per person out on the Open Course.
Please be aware that the last postal date for this fixture is Tuesday 22 May, if you require your tickets to be posted please ensure you purchase before this date.
Once this date has passed, tickets can be purchased and collected from the Box Office.
