Polo returns to Chester Racecourse this week, with the Roodee Challenge Polo tournament on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September.
With four teams from Stella Artois, MBNA, ITC Luxury Travel and LDF competing to win £10,000, the tournament is certain to attract some top players.
The two day tournament on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September promises a memorable, fun day out for all the family. With general admission free on the Friday and just £8 on the Saturday (under 17’s accompanied by an adult go free), all are welcome to relax pitch-side and enjoy the exhilarating game with their own picnic or enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of fizz from our food and drink destinations within the pitch-side shopping village.
Free entertainment for children on the Saturday includes a giant bouncy castle and bungee trampolines.
On both days, between every two chukkas played, ladies will have the chance to show those killer heels some action while competing to win a bottle of bubbly in the traditional stomping of the divots. A prized silver cork will be hidden amongst the divots and the lucky finder will receive a bottle of champagne.
For those who fancy becoming the next polo superstar, Chester Polo Academy’s Equisizer will give you a taste of the action. Once aboard a life size replica horse, a polo instructor will take you through the skills required, using mallets and balls. Free to try, all donations from the polo experience will go to Wales Air Ambulance.
Hospitality options are available for those wanting to experience the day in style, with a VIP champagne reception and three course lunch with wine on Friday at £105 per person and on Saturday, enjoy a relaxed, social occasion with a prosecco reception and two course buffet lunch for just £55.
As the sun sets post competition; join the polo set for an after party on the roof of the racecourse’s modern British restaurant 1539. With a panoramic view of Britain’s oldest and most charming racecourse, the roof club at 1539 is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while reviewing all the action.
