A glamorous crowd of 25,654 descended on the Racecourse for City Plate Day, making it the most popular day of the 2017 season to date. Amongst the crowds were the six lucky winners of Capital Breakfast’s competition “A Clip and a Clop”, who attended with friends to enjoy a day at the races courtesy of Chester Racecourse.
The Paddock Bar was the perfect setting for summer scenes as racegoers posed for pictures on the red carpet with fun summer inflatables, amongst a buzzing atmosphere throughout the afternoon. Temperatures followed suit with highs of 23 degrees.
Capital Street Stars took to the Paddock offering racegoers the chance to enter a competition to win Fusion Festival tickets and Winning Post Enclosure badges to the next Chester race meeting; Midsummer Meeting on Saturday 29 July.
Capital Breakfast presenter Ben Sheppard entertained the crowds with a series of DJ sets. Ben also shared some racing top tips throughout the day live on @ChesterRaces Instagram, revealing he is bit of a dark horse when it comes to racing, with racing running in the family.
