Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is delighted to announce its next summer fixture will take place on Friday 21st August.
Featuring a full card of six exciting races followed by two pony races, the day commences with the Exterion Media Maiden Hurdle race at 2.10pm and the feature race at 4.30pm is the Genesis Wealth Management Handicap Steeple Chase.
5.30pm sees the start of the first of two pony races. The Charles Owen Pony Racing Series races will see a field of ponies and riders who’ve qualified to race, compete in this fast and competitive series.
Formally introduced in Britain in 2004, Pony Racing is for riders aged 9-15 and aims to encourage more young people to consider a career as a jockey. Since then over 100 riders have graduated from Pony Racing and are now jockeys with many more working within the horseracing industry.
Commenting on the forthcoming meeting, Jeannie Chantler, General Manager, Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse said:
“Our last fixture, Clogau Ladies Day on Friday 31st July was our first back after several weeks break and we were thrilled with both the standard of racing and the bumper crowd that came to join us. We hope to welcome many familiar and new faces on the 21st for another great summer race meeting. Following six exciting races, Bangor on Dee is delighted to be supporting the next generation of jockeys as they take part in the highly competitive Charles Owen Pony Racing Series.”
