On 27 September 2015, motorcyclists from across [insert location] will join together and give a two-wheeled ‘salute’ to prostate cancer. As part of global movement, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR), encourages bikers from the region join more than 30,000 other riders from 400 cities across the world, donning their finest attire and riding beautiful bikes on a tour through Chester.
Founded in 2012 in Australia, the event has grown rapidly in popularity as it aims to shake off the sometime negative reputation of biker meets, while raising money for an extremely important cause. The global event is sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles, Britain’s biggest manufacturer of large capacity motorbikes.
Chester’s ride is being actively supported by local motorcycle dealership, Bill Smith Motors and will see riders meet at Bill Smith Motors and travel across Chester; dressed in tweed, suits, bow ties and sporting eccentric facial hair!
Mark Smith, Managing Director of Bill Smith Motors, said: “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a fantastic event that brings together like-minded people in a fun environment. It’s great to see a global event showcasing the pleasurable aspects of biking and the camaraderie that comes with owning a motorcycle.
“In addition to being a fun and inclusive event, the DGR raises valuable funds to fight prostate cancer. The most common cancer in men in the UK, prostate cancer kills one man every hour, 10,500 every year so, we’re happy to do our bit in that respect too.
“Bill Smith Motors’ ride will be an excellent day – bringing together loads of riders from across the region for what’s sure to be a memorable occasion. If last year’s outfits are anything to go by, it will certainly be a spectacle for anyone who happens to pass, so keep your eyes out, although they’ll be hard to miss!”
