Friends, Romans, Countrymen…Let’s Go Racing!
The Romans will conquer Chester Racecourse on Saturday 13th June with the return of its popular annual Roman Day.
Ideal for the whole family, the day will celebrate the city’s rich history with family activities and plenty of Roman Centurions in attendance to entertain the crowds alongside the day’s racing.
As well as seven exciting races, starting at 3.05pm, there will also be free family entertainment in a Roman Village which will be located on the open course – children will be invited to learn and make Roman style arts and crafts in a giant tipi or learn to battle like a Roman on the inflatable gladiator or pole joust.
Richard Thomas, CEO of Chester Race Company said: “Our racecourse is the oldest in Britain, with a rich history, and it’s great to celebrate that every year through this unique race day. Roman Day has become one of our most popular fixtures in the calendar, with over 20,000 attending year on year.”
Halewood International Roman Day is Chester Racecourse’s next race fixture and will take place on Saturday, 13th June. Please note gates open at 1230 on the day. Tickets are priced from £12 (Open Course). Ages 17 and under go free but must be accompanied by an adult. Group discounts available.
