Chester racecourse has added a brand new bet, the ChesterBet Odds or Evens. Designed and branded as the “easiest bet in the world”, customers simply need to choose if the winning horse number is odd or even. The pay-out formula is based on the aggregate starting prices for odds or evens horses.
Customer reaction on the first two days was very positive with many new racegoers finding the bet the easy route into betting on horse racing.
Tony May, Head of gaming, Chester Racecourse said:
“The turnover on day one far outstripped our estimate and the bumper crowd on Friday and Saturday really got behind the bet. Odds or Evens is available on all home and away racing, it was also interesting that many of our regular customers also added an Odds or Evens to their bets for the race.”
Also new to Chester this weekend was a second trial of the unique EasyTab personal terminals. The EasyTab terminals allow the Customer to view racecards, probable odds, results and place bets for all home and away racing with an added facility to replay home and away race replays. The EasyTab terminals use a standard 7” tablet supplied by the racecourse and will initially be available for corporate box customers and owners and trainers but will later be rolled out to a wider cross section of the public.
Richard Thomas, Chief Executive, Chester Racecourse said:
“We have been working closely with Sportech, our betting partner over the last year to finalise the interface of the EasyTab terminal. To get the best from the technology we also needed to complete the roll-out and fine tuning of our course-wide Wi-Fi provided by O2. The customer reaction to the terminals has been tremendous and marks another step forward in customer service and innovation at Chester. Phase 2 will allow customers’ own android phones and tablets to be used and this will widen the service considerably.”
