Buick and Buccellati Breeze

The three day May Festival ended in style and controversy today with the bet Chronicle City Day at Chester Racecourse. Over 25,000 people watched the six races of the day as the sunshine fought to get out and the light showers did nothing to dampen the spirits of the race-goers. The VIP of the day was Captain ‘Hoot’ Gibson, a veteran NASA Astronaut, who was a guest of Hawker Beechcraft for the day.

Gilt-Edged Sword captures Vase

The second day of the May Festival saw the crowds flocking to the Roodee in their thousand to enjoy the sunshine, glamour and great racing action of Boodles Ladies Day. Almost 23,000 people celebrated Ladies Day in style from the A-list Manchester United first team cheering on their horse Moscow Eight in the 4.35 to the Z list Mario and Lisa from Big Brother 9 unsuccessfully trying to find anyone who recognised them.

Chester Specialist Barry Hills celebrates his 150th winner on the course

The first day of the 2009 May Festival at Chester Racecourse saw crowds of almost 17,000 return to the Roodee for the first race of the season. The sun shone down on the course for Chester Cup Day the start of the three day festival, spectators enjoyed a great days racing at the historic course and saw veteran trainer celebrate his 150th winner at Chester

Cracking Chester Classic Trials Pave The Way For Oaks And Derby Successes In 2007

Cracking, the appropriately named winner of the Lily Agnes opening race at the 2007 Chester May meeting, set the tone for the 3-day festival 12-months ago, that went on to again frank the value of the May festival Chester classic trials and laid the foundations to follow, as the season unfolded, of both Light Shift and Soldier of Fortune.

End Of A Record Breaking Season At Chester

Chester Racecourse finished its 2008 racing season in style on Saturday with record crowds attending the Summer Finale at the Roodee. Nearly 18,000 took advantage of the late summer sunshine to enjoy their final flutter of 2008, an increase of 8% on 2007 figures.

Summer Finale Closes The 2008 Season At The Roodee

Chester's final race meet in 2008 takes place on Saturday 27th September. Gates open at 11.30 for the seven race meeting at the historic Roodee. Channel 4 return to Chester for the sixth time this year to cover the feature race, the £35,000 Class 2 Betdaq the Betting Exchange Handicap Stakes at 3.50pm.
