Chester Race Company is pleased to announce that following a review of their parking policy Linenhall Car Park will be free on Sunday’s with immediate effect.
Linenhall car park fees are already one of the lowest in the city and is already free after 2pm on weekdays, but to be free for every Sunday is a rarity and will be a bonus for both shoppers and retailers.
“We continuously liaise with retailers in the city centre on how the Race Company can assist the local retail economy. This decision was prompted by a request from the traders on Watergate Street and we are very happy to meet this request. We believe opening Linenhall Car Park will assist in drawing consumers into the city centre”, said Chester Race Company CEO Richard Thomas.
Alex Sharp representing the Watergate Street Traders said ’As a local business owner I understand the frustrations of small businesses and parking in the city is top of our list. I approached the Race Course about use of their car parks and they kindly agreed to this valuable initiative which will attract additional visitors to the city on Sundays and benefit local businesses.
Hopefully the council will now consider trialing Free Sundays as providing greater free parking provision would fuel additional footfall in Chester and give our local economy a welcome boost.
